Founded in 1990, Touch the World Youth Ministries purpose was and continues to be, to give young people the opportunity to experience God. In direct response to parents who were concerned about the static faith of their children, founder, CEO and pastor, Jeff Boucher set out with a team of 19 teens to the Six Nations Indian Reserve in Ontario, Canada. Their mission was simple; to build two cabins to house Native American children suffering from the difficult circumstances that are often created by alcoholic parents.
The team achieved their construction goal in 17 days, but also managed to accomplish much more. The greater goal was to give the team members an experience with God and the results were farther reaching then initial expectations. Every teen returned from that trip with a new relationship with God. Four members of that first team had the very paths of their lives changed, with a few even withdrawing from one college to attend another in order to pursue Christian callings.
Immediately following the team's return from that first trip, more then 30 adults volunteered their service after seeing the internal changes in the returning team members. Thus Touch the World Ministries was born.
God continued to bless TTW in the years that followed, with the organization growing rapidly; hiring its first full time employee in 1993. From then on, Touch the World began to take shape and turn into the organization that it is today. Other milestones include:
1996: TTW opened up its first overseas mission in Uganda, Africa. 2000: TTW merged with High School Evangelism Fellowship, a 60 year old teen discipleship organization with home discipleship meetings throughout the NY/NJ/PA tri-state area. 2001: TTW moved from Bergenfield, NJ, to its current site in Allendale NJ, and opened up the Holy Grounds Café and Bookstore. 2002: Opened Pathfinders Outdoor Education Ministry. 2003: Opened Solid Foundation Skatepark Ministry. 2005: Opened Outreach Effects (OFX) sound lighting and video Ministry.
Today, Touch the World has full time staff members in Japan, Uganda, Cuba, Scotland, and USA. The heartbeat of TTW is still missions and discipleship, but in recent years has expanded to include Parent Ministries, a full service café, skateboarding and much more. All Touch the World endeavors seek to bring people, particularly young people, into a closer relationship with God our Creator and Savior.
