when God created Eve, the woman, He didn’t do it from the dust of the ground.  Instead He put Adam into a deep sleep and removed one of his ribs.  Now, remember, God creates perfectly so when He removed the rib He rendered Adam imperfect, or incomplete.

Eve was also incomplete as she was made only from the rib.  When God fashioned the rib into a woman He brought her and presented her to the man Adam (same act a dad does when he walks his daughter down the isle and presents her to the man), thus uniting the rib to the rest of the body and the two became one flesh.
God gave this account of creation to Moses who wrote it down and gave it to us.  We are to understand from this passage that the man and the woman were intended for one another; they are part of one another, and they are incomplete without one another.

Man and woman were the crowning achievement of creation.  All of creation was put under their authority as they were under God’s authority.  God ordained and blessed marriage right in the creation account.

The man said, This one at last is bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; this one will be called ‘woman,’  for she was taken out of man.” That is why a man leaves his father and mother and unites with his wife, and they become a new family (Genesis 2:23-24).

Did I mention that the man was created outside the garden where it was wild and adventurous, while the woman was created inside the garden where life was orderly and beautiful?  Doesn’t this give us insight into the difference between men and women?
